Volunteer Descriptions

Below is a list of  volunteer opportunities, expectations, requirements, and links (where applicable).  


Head Coach
Serving as a head coach is one of the most rewarding ways you can get involved with Girls on the Run.  You get to see first hand the impact that the program has on the girls.  The time commitment is 20 ninety-minute sessions spread over 10 weeks.  There will be some time outside of practice that you will need to spend preparing for the lessons and communicating with parents and the site liaison.
Requirements:
* A positive and energetic role model to the girls!

* Female, at least 21 years of age
* Consent to a background check
* Attend a Coaches Training provided by GOTR of Northwest Ohio
* Attend practice twice per week for 90 minutes each day
* Certification in CPR & 1st Aid (this course will be offered in conjunction with the training)

* Attend a mid season coaches meeting that is held on a weekday evening
* Planning the end-of-season celebration

* Attend the 5k

Assistant Coach
Serving as an assistant coach is a fun and rewarding way to get involved with Girls on the Run.  The time commitment is 20 ninety-minute sessions spread over 10 weeks.  The assistant coach is not primarily responsible for facilitating the curriculum, he/she is required to support the head coach in any way needed.
Requirements:
* A positive and energetic role model to the girls!

* Female or Male, at least 21 years of age
* Attend practice twice per week for 90 minutes each day
* Consent to a background check
* Attend a Coaches Training provided by GOTR of Northwest Ohio
* Assist in planning the end-of-season celebration

* Attend the 5k

Junior Coach
Serving as a junior is a great way for a high school student to get involved.  She is there to assist the coaches and participate with the girls.  Junior coaches can set up the frequency of their attendance with the head coach.
Requirements:
* A positive and energetic role model to the girls!
* Female, at least 16 years of age 

* Attend the 5k

Running Buddy
Serving as a running buddy is an opportunity to support the girls on the day of the community 5k.  We also prefer that the running buddies join their partner on their practice 5k, which takes place during the last week of practice.

* A positive and energetic role model to the girls!

* Female, at least 16 years of age

* Attend the 5k

5k Volunteer
In order to put on a successful 5k event with thousands of people in attendance, we need many volunteers willing to contribute their time and talents on race day.  Help us make each race day an amazing celebration and memorable event for all involved! Become a Board Member
